Three days on Mount Olympus
Join us on a unique adventure that everyone should experience once in their lifetime!
We set off from Gortsia, passing through dense beech and pine forests and climbing to 1940 metres, where we find the Petrostruga refuge and a beautiful balcony overlooking the Thermaic Gulf.
We spend the night at the refuge and the next morning we continue our hike to the Plateau of the Muses.
We start the hike among the centuries-old Heldreich pines, and the mountain shows its unspoilt side with the changing vegetation in the alpine zone and at the neck.
A short stop for photos, as the view of the gulf and the plateau of the muses is spectacular. Final push to the Apostolidis refuge at 2697m, where we will spend the night.
We will have a lunch break, rest, and in the afternoon we will set out for the summit of Mytikas at 2918m.
We will pass along the route below the Throne of Zeus (also known as Stefani), the second-highest summit at 2914m.
We will reach the base of the Mytikas slope (Louki), belay, and start our ascent to the summit.
The view from the Pantheon is overwhelming! Peaks appear everywhere, while the sun divinely colours every single person from the highest point in Greece.
We descend to the refuge. The next morning, we have breakfast and make our way back to the Prions, crossing Refuge A (Spilios Agapitos) at 2100m.
Basic equipment is provided.
